Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 whole burger buns
  • 0.5 cup cranberry sauce
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (for spread)
  • 4 leaves butter lettuce
  • 0.5 thinly sliced red onion
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, panko breadcrumbs, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing.

Step 2

Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 1/2 inch thick. Use your thumb to make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Add olive oil to the pan if using a skillet.

Step 4

Place the turkey patties in the skillet or on the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes on the first side, or until nicely browned. Flip and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese to melt.

Step 5

While the patties cook, prepare the bun spread by combining mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a small bowl. Toast the burger buns lightly if desired.

Step 6

To assemble the burgers, spread a generous layer of the Dijon mayo on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a lettuce leaf, a cooked turkey patty, a dollop of cranberry sauce, a few slices of red onion, and the top bun.

Step 7

Serve immediately and enjoy your turkey burgers with a side of sweet potato fries or a fresh salad for the ultimate New England-inspired meal!
