Ingredients

  • 250 grams All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 150 milliliters Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • 0.5 teaspoon Coarse sea salt (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, granulated sugar, and salt.

Step 2

Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the mixture, stirring with a wooden spoon or your hands until a rough dough forms.

Step 3

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Incorporate the chopped rosemary and lemon zest into the dough by kneading until evenly distributed.

Step 5

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 7

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into thin sticks, approximately 20 cm (8 inches) in length.

Step 8

Arrange the breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.

Step 9

Brush the breadsticks lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with coarse sea salt, if desired.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden and crisp.

Step 11

Remove the breadsticks from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
