Ingredients

  • 2 teabags Dried rosehip tea
  • 1 tablespoon Dried hibiscus flowers
  • 1 cup Boiling water
  • 2.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Salt

Directions

Step 1

Place the rosehip tea bags and dried hibiscus flowers in a heatproof bowl or measuring cup.

Step 2

Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the tea bags and hibiscus, and let steep for 5-7 minutes until the liquid is richly colored.

Step 3

Remove the tea bags and strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any hibiscus flower solids. Allow the liquid to cool completely.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar and a pinch of salt.

Step 5

In a small microwave-safe bowl or saucepan, melt the unsalted butter until just liquid, and allow it to cool slightly.

Step 6

Add 3-4 tablespoons of the cooled rosehip and hibiscus tea to the powdered sugar, stirring to integrate. Add more tea, 1 tablespoon at a time, as needed, to achieve a smooth, spreadable consistency.

Step 7

Mix in the melted butter and vanilla extract. Stir vigorously until all ingredients are fully combined and the icing is glossy and smooth.

Step 8

If the icing is too thin, add small amounts of powdered sugar to thicken. If it's too thick, thin it with small amounts of the tea.

Step 9

Once the desired consistency is achieved, use immediately to glaze cakes, cookies, or other baked goods. The icing will set slightly as it cools.
