Ingredients

  • 10 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 6 ounces Bittersweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 4 units Large eggs
  • 0.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (optional for garnish)
  • 4 scoops Vanilla ice cream (optional for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four 6-ounce ramekins or custard cups and dust them lightly with flour. Tap out the excess flour and set aside.

Step 2

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter and chopped bittersweet chocolate together, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

Step 3

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the slightly cooled chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, whisking continuously to avoid cooking the eggs.

Step 5

Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about two-thirds full.

Step 6

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.

Step 7

While the cakes are baking, prepare the fudge sauce. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the semisweet chocolate chips and heavy cream. Cook, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 8

To serve, run a knife around the edges of the cakes to loosen them, then carefully invert each cake onto a serving plate. Drizzle generously with the warm fudge sauce, dust with powdered sugar (if desired), and garnish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy the gooey, chocolatey goodness!
