Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Bone-in pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 large Yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Mushrooms, sliced
  • 1.5 cups Chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season them on both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Step 3

Lightly coat the seasoned pork chops in the all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove the chops from the skillet and set them aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Add the sliced onions and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and translucent.

Step 6

Stir in the mushrooms and continue to sauté for another 3 minutes until they release their moisture and start to brown slightly.

Step 7

Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the browned bits from the bottom of the pan for added flavor. Stir in the heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh thyme, and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Step 8

Return the seared pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the onion and mushroom gravy.

Step 9

Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil and transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and tender.

Step 10

Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes before serving. Spoon the onion and mushroom gravy over the top of the chops.

Step 11

Serve warm with your choice of mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.
