Ingredients

  • 1 head Savoy cabbage
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Black bean garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 stalks Green onions
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Step 2

Remove any damaged outer leaves from the Savoy cabbage. Slice the cabbage into 4-6 wedges, keeping the core intact so the leaves stay together.

Step 3

Place the cabbage wedges on a baking sheet. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper. Rub the oil and seasoning evenly over the cabbage.

Step 4

Roast the cabbage in the oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the edges are browned and caramelized, and the leaves are tender.

Step 5

While the cabbage is roasting, prepare the black bean garlic sauce. Mince the garlic cloves and thinly slice the green onions, separating the white parts from the green tops.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the black bean garlic sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, and the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Step 7

Heat a small skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and the white parts of the green onions. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Pour in the prepared sauce, reduce the heat, and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 8

Once the cabbage is roasted, transfer it to a serving platter. Drizzle the warm black bean garlic sauce over the cabbage.

Step 9

Garnish with the green tops of the sliced green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Step 10

Serve immediately and enjoy!
