Ingredients

  • 750 ml red wine (preferably a fruity variety like Tempranillo or Zinfandel)
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 0.5 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons grenadine syrup
  • 0.25 cup orange liqueur (e.g., Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 0.25 cup tequila (silver or reposado)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 large jalapeño pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 1 large orange (sliced into rounds)
  • 1 large lime (sliced into rounds)
  • 1 large lemon (sliced into rounds)
  • 1 cup strawberries (hulled and sliced)
  • 1 cup club soda (optional, for topping)
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey (optional, to taste)

Directions

Step 1

In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, orange juice, lime juice, pineapple juice, grenadine syrup, orange liqueur, and tequila. Stir well to ensure all liquids are blended.

Step 2

Taste the mixture and, if desired, add brown sugar or honey to sweeten. Stir until dissolved.

Step 3

Add the sliced jalapeño, orange rounds, lime rounds, lemon rounds, and strawberries to the pitcher. Gently muddle them with the back of a wooden spoon to release some of their juices without crushing them completely.

Step 4

Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 5

When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled sangria sangrita over the ice. Top with club soda for added fizz, if desired.

Step 6

Garnish each glass with a slice of orange, lime, or a strawberry for an extra touch of elegance. Enjoy!
