Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef
  • 0.5 pounds Ground pork
  • 1 cup Ricotta cheese
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan with olive oil.

Step 2

In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, ricotta cheese, eggs, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Add the cooled onion and garlic mixture. Mix everything thoroughly with clean hands or a wooden spoon until evenly incorporated.

Step 4

On a separate workspace, lay out a large piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Spread the meat mixture into a rectangular shape, roughly 12 inches by 8 inches and about 1 inch thick.

Step 5

Layer the Swiss cheese slices lengthwise down the center of the meat rectangle, leaving about 1 inch of space on each side.

Step 6

Using the parchment paper or plastic wrap, gently roll the meat mixture over the cheese to form a loaf. Seal the edges and ends tightly to avoid any cheese leakage during cooking.

Step 7

Transfer the meatloaf seam-side down onto the prepared baking sheet or into the loaf pan.

Step 8

In a small bowl, mix the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Spread this glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 9

Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 10

Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 11

Slice into wedges to reveal the gooey Swiss cheese center and serve warm. Enjoy!
