Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup cold unsalted butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.75 cup whole milk
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter (for topping)
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried parsley

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt.

Step 3

Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 5

Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.

Step 6

Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop mounds of dough (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.

Step 7

Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Step 8

While the biscuits are baking, prepare the garlic butter topping by melting the butter in a small saucepan or microwave. Stir in the garlic powder and dried parsley.

Step 9

As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the tops generously with the garlic butter mixture.

Step 10

Serve warm and enjoy!
