Ingredients

  • 6 whole fresh peaches
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cups brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 0.75 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups rolled oats
  • 0.5 cups sliced almonds
  • 0.5 cups heavy cream (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Peel and slice the fresh peaches into thin wedges, removing the pits.

Step 3

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the peach slices, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Stir until the peaches are evenly coated. Set aside to macerate for 10-15 minutes.

Step 4

While the peaches macerate, place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and put it in the oven to melt. Monitor closely and remove the dish once the butter is fully melted.

Step 5

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract, stirring until a smooth batter forms.

Step 6

Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish, but do not stir. The batter will spread out on its own.

Step 7

Evenly distribute the macerated peaches, along with their juices, over the batter. Again, avoid stirring.

Step 8

Sprinkle the rolled oats and sliced almonds evenly over the top of the peaches for a crispy, nutty topping.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.

Step 10

Remove the cobbler from the oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Step 11

Optional: Serve with a drizzle of heavy cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
