Ingredients

  • 120 grams unsalted butter
  • 200 grams semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 50 grams brown sugar
  • 2 pieces large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 90 grams all-purpose flour
  • 30 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 50 grams optional chocolate chips (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal later.

Step 2

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and 200 grams of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and fully melted. Let it cool slightly.

Step 3

Whisk in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until the mixture is well combined and glossy.

Step 4

Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking vigorously after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

Sift in the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. If desired, sprinkle the optional chocolate chips on top for extra chocolatey goodness.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 22-25 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still looks slightly underbaked. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.

Step 8

Remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment overhang. Slice into 9 squares and serve!

Step 9

Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
