Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking immediately. If making ahead, skip this step until you're ready to bake.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef or Italian sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

If baking immediately, cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving.
