Ingredients

  • 4 cups Water
  • 2 sticks Cinnamon sticks
  • 10 pods Cardamom pods
  • 8 whole Cloves
  • 2 pods Star anise
  • 1 inch, sliced Fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Black peppercorns
  • 4 bags Black tea
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons (adjust to taste) Honey or sugar

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

Step 2

While waiting for the water to boil, slightly crush the cardamom pods using the flat side of a knife or a mortar and pestle.

Step 3

Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and add the cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, star anise, sliced ginger, and black peppercorns.

Simmer the spices for 10 minutes to release their flavors.

Step 5

Add the black tea bags to the saucepan and simmer for another 5 minutes.
