In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
In a microwave-safe bowl, warm the milk and butter until lukewarm (about 110°F). Add the warm milk mixture and the egg to the dry ingredients and mix with the dough hook attachment until a dough forms. Knead for about 8 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
While the dough rises, make the cream cheese filling. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle approximately 12x15 inches in size.
Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the surface of the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle the fresh raspberries evenly over the cream cheese filling.
Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal and cut the log into 12 equal portions using a sharp knife or dental floss.
Arrange the buns in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, cover with plastic wrap, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare an egg wash by beating the remaining egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the tops of the buns with the egg wash.
Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Let them cool slightly while you prepare the glaze.
For the glaze, whisk together 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon milk until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm buns.
Serve the buns warm and enjoy!
