Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons Rapid-rise yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, softened (for greasing and brushing rolls)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, rapid-rise yeast, sugar, and salt.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Whisk until well blended.

Step 3

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon or spatula until a soft dough forms.

Step 4

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 2-3 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour, one tablespoon at a time.

Step 5

Prep a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or oven-safe frying pan by greasing it with 1 tablespoon of softened butter.

Step 6

Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. Shape each piece into a smooth ball and arrange them evenly in the prepared skillet.

Step 7

Cover the skillet with a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise in a warm, draft-free spot for 15-20 minutes or until they’ve doubled in size.

Step 8

While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 9

Once risen, brush the tops of the rolls with the remaining softened butter to give them a golden sheen as they bake.

Step 10

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 11

Remove the skillet from the oven and let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Optional: Brush with additional melted butter for extra richness.
