Ingredients

  • 1 cup Raisins
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 6 cups Day-old bread (cubed, preferably brioche or challah)
  • 3 tablespoons Butter (melted)
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 medium Apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 2 tablespoons Molasses
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Apple cider
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Spread the cubed bread evenly in the baking dish and sprinkle the raisins on top.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until fully combined.

Step 4

Pour the milk mixture evenly over the bread and raisins in the baking dish, pressing the bread down lightly so it's fully soaked. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

Step 5

Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the bread mixture.

Step 6

Bake the bread pudding in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 7

While the bread pudding bakes, prepare the apple molasses sauce.

Step 8

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter, then add the diced apples and cook for 5 minutes until slightly softened.

Step 9

Stir in the brown sugar, molasses, and apple cider. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 10

In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Pour the slurry into the simmering sauce and stir constantly until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 11

Remove the apple molasses sauce from the heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 12

Once the bread pudding is finished baking, let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Step 13

Serve the warm bread pudding topped with the apple molasses sauce. Enjoy!
