Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1.5 cups Milk (warm, around 110°F)
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Raisins
  • 1 tablespoons Vegetable oil or melted butter (for greasing)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of the flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and cinnamon. Mix well to combine the dry ingredients.

Step 2

In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.

Step 3

Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon until a sticky dough begins to form.

Step 4

Add the raisins and mix to evenly distribute them throughout the dough.

Step 5

Lightly flour a clean work surface and turn the dough out onto it. Knead the dough by hand for about 8–10 minutes, adding the remaining flour a little at a time until the dough is smooth and elastic. (Be careful not to add too much flour to avoid drying out the dough.)

Step 6

Grease a large bowl with vegetable oil or melted butter. Place the dough in the bowl, turning it to coat the surface with oil. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.

Step 7

Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free area for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 8

After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a loaf.

Step 9

Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and place the dough into the pan, seam side down. Cover it with the towel or plastic wrap and let it rise again for about 30–45 minutes, or until it fills the pan and becomes puffy.

Step 10

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 11

Bake the raisin bread for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

Step 12

Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 13

Slice and enjoy your fresh, homemade raisin bread!
