Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chicken breasts
  • 0.5 cup Orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest
  • 1.5 teaspoons Ground cumin
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 4 slices Orange slices (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the orange juice, orange zest, ground cumin, minced garlic, and honey. Set aside the mixture.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 4

Once the oil is shimmering, place the chicken breasts in the skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour the orange juice mixture over the chicken. Use a spoon to coat the chicken in the sauce.

Step 6

Cover the skillet with a lid and let the chicken simmer for 10-12 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through, until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).

Step 7

Remove the lid and allow the sauce to reduce slightly (about 2-3 minutes). Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt or honey as needed.

Step 8

Transfer the chicken to serving plates, spoon some of the reduced sauce over the top, and garnish with fresh cilantro and optional orange slices.

Step 9

Serve immediately with steamed rice or roasted vegetables if desired.
