Ingredients

  • 250 grams self-raising flour
  • 50 grams unsalted butter
  • 100 grams shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 150 milliliters milk
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour and salt.

Step 3

Add the cubed unsalted butter to the flour mixture and rub it in with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs.

Step 4

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped chives, and a pinch of pepper.

Step 5

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and gradually pour in the milk, mixing gently with a spoon until a soft dough forms.

Step 6

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1-2 minutes until it comes together smoothly.

Step 7

Shape the dough into a log and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and slightly flatten the top with your hand.

Step 8

Arrange the rolls on the prepared baking tray, leaving space between each for expansion.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on the outside.

Step 10

Remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving warm. Enjoy!
