Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 pieces garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 1 large red bell pepper
  • 1 large green bell pepper
  • 200 grams broccoli florets
  • 3 stalks scallions
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 3 tablespoons water

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the beef sirloin against the grain into strips and set aside.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and sugar. Mix until the cornstarch dissolves.

Step 3

Add the beef strips to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Step 4

While the beef is marinating, mince the garlic cloves, and grate the ginger. Cut the red and green bell peppers into thin strips. Cut the broccoli into small florets and slice the scallions diagonally.

Step 5

Heat a large pan or wok over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

Step 6

Add the marinated beef to the hot pan, spreading it out in a single layer. Sear for about 2 minutes on each side until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Step 7

In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Immediately add the garlic and ginger, stir-frying for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 8

Add the bell peppers and broccoli. Stir-fry for about 3 to 4 minutes or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Step 9

Return the beef to the pan. Add oyster sauce, water, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together, making sure the beef and vegetables are well-coated in the sauce.

Step 10

Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through.

Step 11

Finally, toss in the sliced scallions and stir one last time. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
