Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce (optional)
  • 0.25 cup sliced black olives (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.

Step 3

Stir in the taco seasoning and water into the cooked beef. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

Step 4

Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish lightly with cooking spray.

Step 5

Open one can of crescent roll dough and unroll it. Press the dough onto the bottom of the casserole dish to form an even base, pinching any seams together.

Step 6

Spread the cooked taco meat evenly over the crescent dough base.

Step 7

Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the taco meat.

Open the second can of crescent roll dough. Unroll and gently lay the dough over the top of the cheese and meat layer, pinching seams as much as possible. It’s fine if the top dough doesn’t completely cover the edges.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top crescent roll layer is golden brown and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes.

Spread sour cream over the top of the baked casserole in an even layer.

Optional: Sprinkle diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and sliced black olives on top for garnish.
