Ingredients

  • 4 cups canned navy beans
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 medium, diced yellow onion
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces and set aside.

Step 3

Drain most of the bacon grease from the skillet, leaving about 1 tablespoon behind.

Step 4

Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and golden brown.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, ground black pepper, and water. Whisk until well blended.

Step 6

Add the cooked onions, navy beans, and crumbled bacon to the bowl with the sauce. Stir gently to coat everything evenly.

Step 7

Transfer the bean mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Step 8

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes.

Step 9

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to achieve a deeper caramelized flavor and a slightly thickened texture.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy your Queen Puff's Easy Baked Beans as a side dish or a filling main course!
