Ingredients

  • 450 grams green beans
  • 4 pieces garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons scallions (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Wash and trim the ends of the green beans. Pat them dry with a clean towel.

Step 2

Mince the garlic and grate the ginger. Set them aside.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, chili flakes, cornstarch, and water. Stir well to dissolve the cornstarch and set aside.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.

Step 5

Once the oil is hot, add the green beans and stir-fry for 5–6 minutes, or until they are tender but still crisp. Remove the green beans from the skillet and set them aside.

Step 6

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the sesame oil.

Step 7

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring constantly for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant (be careful not to burn).

Step 8

Pour in the soy sauce mixture and stir well. Let the sauce cook and thicken slightly, about 1–2 minutes.

Step 9

Return the green beans to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly in the sauce. Cook for another minute until the beans are heated through.

Step 10

Remove from the heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped scallions and sesame seeds if desired.

Step 11

Serve immediately with steamed rice or as a side to your favorite main dish.
