Ingredients

  • 1 cup Pumpkin puree
  • 1 medium, diced Apple
  • 0.333 cup Dried cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 20 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 1 large, beaten Egg
  • 2 cups (for frying) Vegetable oil
  • 0.333 cup Honey
  • 0.25 cup Orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, diced apple, dried cranberries, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix until evenly combined to make the filling.

Step 2

Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the filling mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Step 3

Dip your finger into the beaten egg and lightly brush it around the edges of the wonton wrapper.

Step 4

Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal the filling inside. Make sure there are no air pockets.

Step 5

Optionally, bring the two opposing corners of the triangle together and pinch to create a traditional wonton shape.

Step 6

Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 7

In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) over medium heat.

Step 8

Carefully fry the wontons in batches for 2-3 minutes each, turning once, until they are golden brown and crisp. Do not overcrowd the pan.

Step 9

Remove the fried wontons with a slotted spoon and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 10

To make the honey orange sauce, combine honey, orange juice, and orange zest in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir constantly and cook for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is smooth and slightly thickened.

Step 11

Serve the warm wontons with the honey orange sauce on the side for dipping or drizzled over the top.
