Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 2 units garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.5 cup onion, finely grated
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 units soft sandwich rolls or Cuban bread, split
  • 4 units Swiss cheese slices
  • 0.5 cup dill pickle slices
  • 0.25 cup yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, minced garlic, grated onion, Worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into thin, flat patties slightly larger than the size of your bread slices.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4 minutes per side, or until they are fully cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4

Spread a thin layer of yellow mustard on the inner sides of the sandwich rolls or bread halves.

Step 5

Layer each sandwich with a cooked patty, a slice of Swiss cheese, and a handful of dill pickle slices.

Step 6

Close the sandwiches and lightly spread the softened butter on the outsides of the bread (both top and bottom).

Step 7

Heat a panini press or large skillet over medium heat. If using a skillet, place a heavy pan or foil-wrapped brick on top of the sandwiches to press them down.

Step 8

Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden and crisp and the cheese has melted.

Step 9

Remove the burgers from the heat and let them rest for 1-2 minutes. Slice in half and serve warm.
