Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 0.75 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cups Milk
  • 1.5 cups Maple syrup
  • 1 cups Brown sugar (lightly packed)
  • 1 cups Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cups Unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch (or equivalent) baking dish.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together and set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

Reduce the mixer speed to low and add the dry ingredients in three additions, alternating with the milk in two additions. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 7

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the maple syrup, brown sugar, heavy cream, and unsalted butter. Stir continuously until the sugar is dissolved and the butter is melted, about 2-3 minutes. Do not let it boil.

Step 8

Carefully pour the warm maple syrup mixture over the batter in the baking dish. Pour gently to avoid disturbing the batter layer.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top of the cake is golden brown and set, and the sauce is bubbling around the edges.

Step 10

Remove the pudding from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before serving. The cake will float on top of the luscious maple syrup sauce.

Step 11

Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.
