Ingredients

  • 4 lbs Pork spareribs
  • 0.5 cups Soy sauce
  • 0.5 cups Honey
  • 0.25 cups Brown sugar
  • 0.5 cups Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 4 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 Green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • 0.5 cups Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

Step 2

Cut the spareribs into 3- to 4-rib sections for easy handling. Pat them dry with paper towels.

Step 3

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, ketchup, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, smoked paprika, black pepper, and water. Stir well to create the marinade.

Step 4

Reserve 1/2 cup of the marinade for later use, and set it aside.

Step 5

Place the spareribs into a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the remaining marinade over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for better flavor.

Step 6

Remove the ribs from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. Arrange the ribs in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, meaty side up.

Step 7

Cover the baking sheet tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours, or until the ribs are tender.

Step 8

While the ribs are baking, transfer the reserved marinade to a small saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat, and cook until thickened into a glaze, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.

Step 9

After 2 hours, remove the ribs from the oven and discard the foil. Brush the thickened glaze generously over the ribs.

Step 10

Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the ribs to the oven, uncovered. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.

Step 11

Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
