Ingredients

  • 20 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 3 medium Potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoons Cumin powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Paprika
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Peel and dice the potatoes into small chunks. Boil them in salted water for 10-12 minutes, or until fork-tender. Drain and allow to cool slightly.

Step 2

Mash the potatoes in a bowl until smooth. Set aside.

Step 3

In a small pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 4

Stir the butter and garlic mixture into the mashed potatoes. Add the green onions, cumin powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the spices are fully incorporated.

Step 5

Place a wonton wrapper on a clean, flat surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of the potato filling in the center of the wrapper.

Step 6

Dip your finger in water and run it along the edges of the wonton wrapper to moisten. Fold the wrapper into a triangle, pressing firmly to seal the edges. For extra security, press the edges with a fork or make pleats along the seam. Repeat until all wrappers are filled.

Step 7

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan or skillet to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add a few wontons at a time to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.

Step 8

Fry the wontons for 2-3 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 9

Repeat the frying process with the remaining wontons.

Step 10

Serve the potato wontons hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or soy sauce.
