Ingredients

  • 6 medium Potatoes
  • 2 cups Cooked ham
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 as needed Cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 2

Peel the potatoes and slice them into thin, even slices, about 1/8-inch thick. Using a mandoline slicer is recommended for consistency.

Step 3

Chop the cooked ham into small bite-sized pieces and set aside.

Step 4

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.

Step 5

Gradually add the milk to the roux, whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the mixture thickens into a creamy sauce.

Step 6

Stir in the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Remove the sauce from the heat.

Step 7

Spread a thin layer of the sauce at the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 8

Layer one-third of the potato slices over the sauce, overlapping slightly. Top with one-third of the chopped ham and one-third of the cheddar cheese.

Step 9

Repeat this layering process (sauce, potatoes, ham, and cheese) two more times, finishing with a layer of cheddar cheese on top.

Step 10

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top layer.

Step 11

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.

Step 12

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly, and the potatoes are fully tender when pierced with a fork.

Step 13

Let the bake cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added color and flavor, if desired.

Step 14

Serve warm and enjoy!
