Clean the portobello mushrooms by removing the stems and gently scraping out the gills with a spoon.
In a small bowl, mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Brush this mixture on both sides of the portobello caps and let them marinate for 10 minutes.
Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.
