Ingredients

  • 4 pieces pork steaks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups apple cider
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

Step 1

Season the pork steaks on both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork steaks and sear for 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside on a plate, covered loosely with foil.

Step 3

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the freshly grated ginger and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Pour in the apple cider, scrapping the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon to deglaze. Stir in the dijon mustard, honey, and fresh thyme leaves. Let the mixture simmer gently for 5-7 minutes, allowing it to reduce slightly.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to form a slurry. Slowly whisk it into the cider sauce, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

Step 6

Return the pork steaks to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Let them cook for 2-3 minutes to warm through and absorb some of the sauce.

Step 7

Serve the pork steaks on a plate with a generous drizzle of the cider ginger sauce. Pair with roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
