  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 4 pieces Burger buns
  • 0 Pickles (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the diced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground pork to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until fully browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

Step 5

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, apple cider vinegar, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 6

Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked pork and stir to combine.

Step 7

Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the pork evenly.

Step 8

Toast the burger buns lightly if desired.

Step 9

Spoon the pork mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, top with pickles if using, and cover with the top half of the bun.

Step 10

Serve warm and enjoy!
