Ingredients

  • 500 g Ground pork
  • 100 g Breadcrumbs
  • 50 g Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 large Egg
  • 60 ml Milk
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 500 ml Marinara sauce
  • 400 g Spaghetti (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, milk, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano.

Step 2

Mix the ingredients gently with your hands until well combined, being careful not to overmix, which can make the meatballs dense.

Step 3

Roll the mixture into evenly-sized balls, roughly the size of a golf ball, and set them aside on a plate. You should get about 16-18 meatballs.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

Step 5

Cook the meatballs for 2-3 minutes on each side, turning them carefully with tongs, until they are browned all over. They do not need to be fully cooked at this stage.

Step 6

Remove the browned meatballs from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.

Step 7

In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce and bring it to a gentle simmer. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits stuck to the bottom of the pan for added flavor.

Step 8

Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, nestling them into the marinara sauce.

Step 9

Cover the skillet with a lid and let the meatballs simmer in the sauce for 20 minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Step 10

While the meatballs are cooking, if serving with spaghetti, cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Step 11

After 20 minutes, check that the meatballs are fully cooked (the internal temperature should reach 160°F or 71°C). Adjust seasoning in the sauce if necessary.

Step 12

Serve the meatballs hot, generously spooned with marinara sauce. They can be served over spaghetti, with crusty bread, or enjoyed on their own with a sprinkle of extra Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
