Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Pork chops (bone-in or boneless, about 1-inch thick)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 pieces Pears (ripe but firm, peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 2 teaspoons Fresh ginger (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Season the pork chops generously on both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, add the pork chops in a single layer. Sear them for about 4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set them aside on a plate, tented with foil to keep warm.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the same skillet. Once the butter has melted, add the diced pears and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften.

Step 4

Stir in the grated ginger and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the honey, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth to the skillet. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and the pears are tender.

Step 6

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning, if necessary.

Step 7

Return the seared pork chops and any accumulated juices back to the skillet. Spoon the ginger pear sauce over the pork chops and allow them to heat through for 2-3 minutes.

Step 8

Transfer the pork chops to serving plates and spoon the sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh thyme, if using.

Step 9

Serve immediately with your preferred side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or rice.
