Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 pieces apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup apple cider
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt, black pepper, and a pinch of ground cinnamon.

Step 2

Heat 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork chops and sear for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F/63°C). Remove pork chops to a plate and tent with foil to keep warm.

Step 3

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the pan. Once melted, stir in the sliced apples.

Step 4

Sprinkle the apples with brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir to coat evenly and cook for 5–7 minutes until the apples are softened and caramelized.

Step 5

Pour in the apple cider to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits. Let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 6

Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them among the apples. Spoon some of the sauce over the pork chops and let everything heat through for 2–3 minutes.

Step 7

Serve the pork chops topped with the fried apples and a drizzle of the pan sauce. Garnish with fresh thyme if desired. Enjoy!
