Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Season both sides of the pork chops with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Lightly dredge the pork chops in the all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil and butter. Once the butter is melted and bubbly, sear the pork chops for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the thinly sliced onions. Sauté the onions for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and caramelized.

Step 4

Pour in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Gradually add the slurry to the skillet, stirring constantly, until the gravy begins to thicken, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the onion gravy. Lower the heat, cover the skillet, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and tender.

Step 7

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the flavorful onion gravy.
