Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Bone-in pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 1.5 cups Chicken stock
  • 0.5 cup Duck sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Season the pork chops on both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter.

Step 3

Once the butter has melted, sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

Reduce heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Add the onion, finely diced, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and translucent.

Step 5

Pour in the chicken stock, followed by the duck sauce and soy sauce. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water until smooth. Slowly pour this slurry into the simmering sauce, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.

Step 7

Return the pork chops to the skillet, along with any juices that collected on the plate. Spoon the sauce over the chops.

Step 8

Cover the skillet and let the chops simmer in the sauce for 15-18 minutes or until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Step 9

Sprinkle the finished dish with chopped fresh parsley for garnish before serving.

Step 10

Serve the pork chops hot with the duck sauce gravy drizzled on top. Great accompaniments include mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
