Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops
  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 pieces garlic cloves
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Season the pork chops with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika on both sides.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

Thinly slice the cabbage and onion. Mince the garlic.

Step 5

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until softened.

Step 6

Add the cabbage to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it begins to soften.

Step 7

Sprinkle the flour over the cabbage mixture and stir well to coat. Cook for 1 minute.

Step 8

Slowly add the chicken broth to the skillet while stirring, then add the heavy cream and thyme. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Step 9

Transfer the cabbage mixture to a 9x13-inch casserole dish. Spread it out evenly.

Step 10

Arrange the seared pork chops on top of the cabbage mixture.

Step 11

Cover the casserole dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Step 12

Remove the foil, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole, and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 13

Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
