Ingredients

  • 227 grams Unsalted butter
  • 15 grams Dried porcini mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Soak the dried porcini mushrooms in hot water (about 1/2 cup) for 10 minutes to rehydrate them. Once soft, drain the mushrooms and finely chop them. Discard the soaking liquid or reserve it for another recipe.

Step 2

In a small skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped porcini mushrooms and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant and any residual liquid from the mushrooms has evaporated. Remove from heat and let cool.

Step 3

In a mixing bowl, combine the remaining softened butter, sautéed porcini mixture, fresh thyme leaves, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper.

Step 4

Use a fork or spatula to thoroughly mix the ingredients until evenly incorporated.

Step 5

Place the butter mixture onto a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Shape the butter into a log, wrapping it tightly and twisting the ends to seal.

Step 6

Chill the wrapped butter in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up. Alternatively, you can freeze it for longer storage.

Step 7

Slice and use as desired—for spreading, cooking, or garnishing dishes.
