Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Chicken wings
  • 0.25 cup Low-sodium soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup Pineapple juice (no added sugar)
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 2 stalks Green onions (sliced, for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 as needed Cooking spray (nonstick)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly spray the rack with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Step 2

Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared rack.

Step 3

Bake the wings in the oven for 25 minutes. Flip them halfway through cooking for even crispness.

Step 4

While the wings are baking, prepare the Polynesian glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the soy sauce, pineapple juice, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

Step 5

In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Once the glaze begins to simmer, slowly stir in the cornstarch mixture. Continue cooking until the glaze thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 6

After 25 minutes of baking, remove the wings from the oven. Generously brush the wings with the Polynesian glaze on both sides.

Step 7

Return the glazed wings to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and the wings are fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).

Step 8

Remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes.

Step 9

Transfer the wings to a serving plate and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
