Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef
  • 1 pound Ground pork
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1.5 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Prepared yellow mustard

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, eggs, breadcrumbs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Use your hands to mix until just combined—don’t overmix.

Step 3

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions.

Step 4

Press one portion of the meat mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan.

Step 5

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the meat layer, leaving about a 1/2-inch gap around the edges.

Step 6

Carefully press the remaining meat mixture over the cheese layer, sealing the edges to completely encase the cheese.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread this glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 8

Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 9

Let the meatloaf rest in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing to reveal the 'polka dot' cheesy interior.

Step 10

Serve warm with your favorite side dishes and enjoy!
