Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground pork
  • 500 grams Ground beef
  • 1 large White onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 Bread roll (preferably stale)
  • 125 ml Milk
  • 100 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Tear the stale bread roll into small pieces and soak it in milk for 5-10 minutes until soft.

Step 2

Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic cloves.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, ground beef, diced onion, minced garlic, eggs, soaked bread (squeeze out any excess milk before adding), salt, and black pepper.

Step 4

Mix the meat mixture thoroughly with clean hands or a spatula until well combined. Avoid over-mixing, as this can make the meatballs dense.

Step 5

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.

Step 6

Place the breadcrumbs on a plate. Shape the meat mixture into round or oval patties, about the size of your palm, and coat each patty evenly with breadcrumbs.

Step 7

Working in batches, place the breaded patties into the hot pan. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Add the remaining oil (and butter, if desired) as needed between batches.

Step 8

Transfer the cooked meatballs to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Step 9

Serve hot with mashed potatoes, pickled vegetables, or a simple salad.
