Ingredients

  • 250 grams All-purpose flour
  • 100 grams Freshly grated coconut
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 120 milliliters Water
  • 2 tablespoons Oil (for cooking)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, grated coconut, and salt.

Step 2

Gradually add the water while mixing the ingredients with your hands to form a soft, non-sticky dough. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water; if it’s too sticky, sprinkle in a small amount of additional flour.

Step 3

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.

Step 4

Flatten each ball with your hands or a rolling pin to form a disc about 1/2 cm thick. Ensure the edges are smooth to prevent cracking during cooking.

Step 5

Heat a skillet or flat griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with a small amount of oil.

Step 6

Place one flattened roti onto the hot skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side, or until golden brown spots appear.

Step 7

Flip the roti and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until evenly cooked and slightly crispy.

Step 8

Repeat with the remaining dough portions, adding more oil to the skillet as needed.

Step 9

Serve warm with your choice of curry, sambol, or as a standalone snack.
