Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Hummus
  • 0.75 cup Warm water
  • 0.25 cup Olive oil
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Optional: Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Optional: Dried rosemary

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir gently and let the mixture rest for 5 minutes, allowing the yeast to bloom and become frothy.

Step 2

Add hummus, olive oil, salt, garlic powder (if using), and dried rosemary (if using) to the bowl. Stir until well combined.

Step 3

Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Once the dough becomes too thick to stir, transfer it to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 5

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 6

Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the dough into the prepared pan and cover loosely with a towel. Let it rise again for 30–40 minutes, or until it has risen slightly above the top of the pan.

Step 7

Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

Step 8

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the loaf to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
