Ingredients

  • 24 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Pepperoni slices, chopped
  • 0.5 cup Pizza sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 0.25 cup Optional: grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup Optional: marinara sauce (for dipping)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, mix mozzarella cheese, chopped pepperoni, pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder until well combined.

Step 2

Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wrapper.

Step 3

Brush the edges of each wonton wrapper lightly with the beaten egg. Fold the wrapper into a triangle (or a pouch shape) and press the edges firmly to seal. Ensure there are no gaps, as this could cause the filling to leak during frying.

Step 4

In a deep saucepan or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, test by dropping a small piece of wonton wrapper into the oil—it should sizzle immediately.

Step 5

Fry the wontons in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook each batch for 2-3 minutes, flipping occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Step 6

Use a slotted spoon to remove the wontons from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 7

Optional: While the wontons are still hot, sprinkle them with grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.

Step 8

Serve immediately with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
