Ingredients

  • 1 ball (approximately 250 grams) Pizza dough
  • 180 grams Canned tuna in olive oil
  • 100 grams Tomato sauce
  • 150 grams Mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 medium Red onion
  • 2 tablespoons Capers
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 5 leaves Fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F) or the highest setting for home ovens, and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

Step 2

Drain the canned tuna from its olive oil thoroughly and set it aside.

Step 3

Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface until it's about 30 cm (12 inches) in diameter or your desired thickness.

Step 4

Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough onto a piece of baking parchment to make it easier to transfer to the oven.

Step 5

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1 cm (1/2 inch) border around the edges.

Step 6

Tear the mozzarella cheese into small chunks and scatter them evenly over the tomato sauce.

Step 7

Break the drained tuna into small chunks and distribute it evenly over the mozzarella cheese.

Step 8

Peel the red onion and thinly slice it into rings; scatter these over the pizza.

Step 9

Rinse the capers in water to remove excess salt and sprinkle them over the pizza.

Step 10

Sprinkle the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper evenly over the top.

Step 11

Drizzle the pizza with olive oil to add richness and flavor.

Step 12

Using the parchment paper, transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven.

Step 13

Bake the pizza for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 14

Once cooked, remove the pizza from the oven and allow it to rest for 2-3 minutes.

Step 15

Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.

Step 16

Enjoy your homemade Pizza Tonno with a crisp green salad or your choice of beverage.
