Ingredients

  • 12 sheets lasagna noodles
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, ground
  • 40 pieces pepperoni slices
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a medium skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and bell pepper, and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Stir in the ground Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles with a wooden spoon. Drain any excess grease.

Step 6

Season the sausage mixture with Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat.

Step 7

In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, eggs, and half of the parmesan cheese until smooth. Set aside.

Step 8

Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 9

Lay down 3 sheets of lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping if necessary.

Step 10

Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1 cup of marinara sauce and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.

Step 11

Sprinkle a portion of the cooked sausage mixture evenly over the mozzarella, then place 10 pepperoni slices on top.

Step 12

Repeat the layering process (noodles, ricotta mixture, marinara, mozzarella, sausage, and pepperoni) two more times.

Step 13

For the final layer, place the remaining lasagna noodles on top, spread the last cup of marinara sauce, and finish with the remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

Step 14

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil, tenting it slightly to prevent the cheese from sticking to the foil.

Step 15

Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Step 16

Let the pizza lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
