Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 10 whole Red chili peppers
  • 4 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 120 ml Olive oil
  • 60 ml White vinegar
  • 30 ml Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 30 ml Water

Directions

Step 1

Wash and dry the red chili peppers. Remove the stems, and for a milder sauce, deseed some or all of the peppers. For a spicier kick, keep the seeds intact.

Step 2

Peel the garlic cloves and roughly chop them for easier blending.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped chili peppers, garlic, olive oil, and water over low heat.

Step 4

Cook the mixture gently for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chili peppers are softened and fragrant. Be careful not to let the olive oil boil.

Step 5

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly for about 5 minutes.

Step 6

Transfer the cooked mixture to a blender or food processor. Add white vinegar, lemon juice, paprika, salt, dried oregano, and sugar.

Step 7

Blend the mixture until smooth. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a small amount of water to reach your desired consistency.

Step 8

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or vinegar for balance.

Step 9

Once blended, strain the sauce through a fine mesh sieve if you prefer a smoother texture, though this step is optional.

Step 10

Pour the sauce into a sterilized glass jar or bottle and allow it to cool completely before sealing.

Step 11

Store your homemade Piri Piri Sauce in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Shake well before each use.
