Ingredients

  • 8 pieces Red chili peppers (bird's eye or other hot variety)
  • 1 large Red bell pepper
  • 4 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons Red wine vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

Slice the red chili peppers in half and remove the seeds if you prefer a milder sauce. For an extra spicy kick, leave the seeds intact.

Step 2

Roast the red bell pepper by placing it directly over a gas flame or under a broiler until the skin blackens and blisters. Let cool, then peel off the charred skin and remove the seeds.

Step 3

In a blender or food processor, combine the roasted red bell pepper, red chili peppers, garlic cloves, red wine vinegar, olive oil, paprika, dried oregano, salt, lemon juice, and water.

Step 4

Blend the mixture until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Step 5

Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary, adding more salt, vinegar, or lemon juice to suit your preference.

Step 6

Pour the sauce into a clean jar or airtight container. Let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before using to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 7

Serve as a marinade for chicken, seafood, or vegetables, or use as a spicy condiment for dipping or drizzling.
