Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Cube steak
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 whole Onions
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 whole French rolls

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the onions and set aside.

Step 2

Slice the cube steak into thin strips and season with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the sliced onions to the skillet and cook until they are golden and caramelized, approximately 8-10 minutes. Remove onions from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the same skillet. Increase heat to medium-high.

Step 6

Add the seasoned cube steak strips to the skillet in a single layer, cooking in batches if necessary. Sear quickly on each side until browned, about 1-2 minutes per side.

Step 7

Return the cooked onions to the skillet with the steak.

Step 8

Drizzle Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce over the mixture. Stir to combine and allow the flavors to meld for 2-3 minutes over low heat.

Step 9

Slice the French rolls in half and toast them lightly if desired.

Step 10

Spoon the steak and onion mixture onto the bottom halves of the rolls. Top with the other halves and serve warm.
